Sapling Social 2025: Growing Roots in the Bluegrass
On a crisp Saturday in April, the Urban Lumberjack crew set up at Mirror Twin Brewing for our first-ever Sapling Social, and Lexington showed up in force.
What started as a simple idea, “give back to the community that fuels our business” turned into a bustling spring gathering with Kentucky native saplings, live music, local vendors, and the unmistakable energy of friends and neighbors coming together.
Giving Back, One Tree at a Time
Firewood is our business, but sustainability is our promise. Every log we sell has a story, and with the Sapling Social, we wanted to start a new chapter. By giving away native saplings, we’re helping to restore tree canopy, improve air quality, and create a legacy of green spaces for future generations.
From the first family that lined up early, to the last customer who carefully carried their sapling to the car, the smiles and stories reminded us why we do this.
Community Spirit in Full Bloom
The day wasn’t just about trees. We partnered with local makers and small businesses turning the brewery patio into a mini market. Live music set the tone early with local musician Chris Jones opening the show, welcoming folks as they arrived and creating the perfect backdrop for mingling and browsing. As the afternoon built, the crowd gathered for our headliner “Thunderwood”, a rising local bluegrass sensation. Their high-energy set had toes tapping and kept the event buzzing right through to the last song, giving the Sapling Social a soundtrack worthy of the occasion.
From First-Time Event to Annual Tradition
We couldn’t have asked for a better response. Thanks to the overwhelming turnout and support, we’re proud to announce that the Sapling Social will now be an annual Urban Lumberjack tradition. Every spring, we’ll gather to celebrate sustainability, community, and the joy of putting down new roots, literally.
So mark your calendars for next April. Whether you come for the trees, the local goods, or just the chance to connect with your neighbors, we promise to make each year bigger, greener, and even more fun than the last.
